Some burdens no longer shape the whole of a person’s life. They simply return quietly, appearing in familiar moments before slipping back into the ordinary rhythm of another day.

He had seen the same man before, different nights, different places, always carrying the same quiet heaviness. After enough encounters, it became difficult to believe it was only coincidence.

Some friendships rarely announce how much they are holding together. A phone answered without hesitation, a late-night favour, a silence that no longer needs explaining. The steadiness often disappears into ordinary life long before anyone realises how much they have been relying on it.

Some people make life safer without ever naming what they are doing. A borrowed umbrella, a returned charger, a small inconvenience accepted quietly, repeated often enough until asking no longer feels embarrassing.
